Radical Rebel
Glow Up
In a world that profits from disease, cultivating good health is, in and of itself,
a rebellious act. When one's baseline is healthier, everything else gets easier.

We live an embodied life.
Bodies are incredible machines that allow us to sense an enormous range of experiences. Taking care of one's body, allows one to make full use of all its gifts. It is the vehicle through which we develop relationships with all of existence, and it is the physical record of all that we experience. When we learn to work with our bodies, we become better prepared to enjoy life, and to protect its continuation.

We are interconnected.
Separation has helped us to make sense of the world. However, we are not completely separate. The actions we take impact ourselves as well as those around us, and even those far away. Living in alignment is a practice that expands over time, and that grows more joyful with each step. As we make adjustments to how we live, there are waves that ripple out to touch the whole world.

My name is Nikki
When I was in my early 20s, I had a near death experience that led to two intestinal surgeries, a lot of antibiotics and a long recovery. Back then, there really wasn't much information communicated to me to rebuild my gut. Every meal seemed to cause me to double over in pain for hours. I spent years combing through the available research and experimenting with my body to see what worked.I got my health back, and even improved from where I was before my surgeries. I learned a lot along the way, and wanted to continue down the path to become a nutritionist. I've now graduated with an MSc in Clinical and Public Health Nutrition, and am eager to support others who want to learn more about cultivating good health with food.In addition to developing my nutritional knowledge, I have been steadily growing my awareness and understanding of anti-oppressive and liberatory work. I am proud to be a part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and have a keen interest in learning to live heart-centred values. As such, I encourage plant-forward choices, while acknowledging and accepting that there are many layers to why we eat what we do.
Book a session with me
In a typical one hour session with me, we will go over:(1) where you are now,
(2) where you want to go and,
(3) how I can help you get there.Prepare yourself to discuss what you typically eat in a given day (no shame, no judgement -- I just want to know what your normal looks like so we have an idea of which micronutrients might need to get boosted or reduced). If you have specific concerns or priorities, let me know (ex. boycotting Israeili products, protecting rainforests, reducing your ecological footprint, or even just that you really like mushrooms).I will then send a follow-up email summarising our session which will be loaded with info, links and resources relevant to your life, interests and goals.

Radical Rebel Glow Up Podcast
Over the years, I have created a few podcast series that really uplifted my communities. As a long-time musician, I hosted a series called Unknown Artist (still available online) where guests would play a few songs, and we would have genuine and intimate conversations in between the music. I wanted to create a platform to promote the amazing musicians in my life, so I did! I definitely recommend checking it out and learning about the artists who were active in Montreal around 2018-2020.After that, I created a series for Montreal's social group aimed at breaking isolation among LGBTQ+ older adults. Following the success of that series (Gay & Grey Montreal Podcast), they were able to secure funding for a video podcast that they now produce themselves on YouTube (the goal was always to put the microphone in their hands to tell their stories as they see fit and I am so proud of them)! Now that I have my nutrition degree, I am furthering that knowledge through the creation of the Radical Rebel Glow Up Podcast. This podcast aims to make sense of the many, and often conflicting, bits of nutritional science that gets tossed around, and to combine it with global movements and ideas rooted in yogic and nature-based, pre-Christian ideologies. My persdpective has been profoundly shaped by growing up in a forest and exploring paganism from childhood. Additionally, having been a poet and a musician for most of my life, I bring that creative lens (as well as my long standing connections to resistance movements and anti-oppressive ideologies) to discussion of health. The word 'radical' is about getting to the root of something. Many of us go about our lives with a sense that something isn't quite right, but we can't figure out what exactly it is that is wrong. This podcast is about addressing that sense of unease, and making an honest effort at figuring this stuff out.I often get told that I look at lot younger than my age. I don't choose to alter my body surgically, and I don't get the latest cosmetic products (though I am a strong supporter of bodily autonomy). No, my "glow up" has been all about living in alignment with my values. I believe that as we walk the path of personal and collective liberation, we will naturally restore our vitality and "glow up" from the inside out.
I put a lot of work into crafting my podcasts. If you enjoy listening to it, consider paying me for the work that I do. This allows me the freedom to create a podcast that I'm passionate about, without interference from sponsors. You can sign up to my Patreon with the link below. For the price of a coffee or beer, once a month, you can support the podcast. Even a free membership helps me to know that I am supported, and encourages me to keep going.
